General information

Customer/Installer Responsibilities

Ready floor solid wood flooring is a product of nature and therefore has its own unique characteristics. Akafloor wooden floors are manufactured according to the market’s industrial standards, which allows for deficiencies of no more than 5%. These deficiencies can be due to manufacturing or the nature of the wood. When the floor is ordered by the customer, 5% must be added to the square footage for cuts and alignments.

• The Customer/Installer assumes all responsibility for the final inspection of the product and its quality. The floor must be inspected before installation. The floor’s color, varnish and quality must be carefully examined before installation. If the material is not acceptable, the installation should not be carried out. The customer should contact the retailer or Akafloor’s official channels immediately.

• Before installing any wood flooring, the customer/installer must determine that the installation site and its floor are in a condition to receive the product. Construction and material recommendations must be followed. These instructions recommend that the site and subfloor be clean, dry, rigid and structurally flat. The manufacturer disclaims any liability caused or occasioned by deficiencies in the subfloor or derivatives.

• Before installation, the Customer/Installer must carry out a final inspection to ensure quality of manufacture and varnishing. The installer must use “common sense” when installing and selecting defective parts, regardless of the cause. If a part has too many problems such as inferior workmanship or gradation, the installer should not use this part.

• The use of dyes, fillers, waterproofing agents or putties to correct the subfloor is acceptable as a normal part of the installation procedures.

Storage and Handling

The ready floor must be stored in the environment where it will be installed. Deliver the material to a controlled environment. Use a moisture meter, measure and document the humidity of both the subfloor and the wood floor. The difference between the subfloor and the wood cannot exceed 4%. Let the wood acclimate in the environment, if necessary, to reach these levels. Store in a dry place, ensuring at least 10cm of space between the boxes on the concrete. Floors should not be delivered until the construction is completely closed, with windows and doors in place, and until the cement is completely dry. 10 days of drying is recommended for each 1cm of concrete thickness.

Subfloor Conditions

CLEAN – The subfloor must be free of wax, paints, oils, adhesives and other materials not suitable for the floor.

LEVELED – With irregular areas or sanded joints. Sealants or levelers should be used on the lower parts.

DRY – Use moisture retardants if necessary.

NOTE: Avoid subfloors with irregularities. The best performance of the wood floor occurs on completely level subfloors. If the subfloor has many uneven areas, it will continue to have uneven areas after the installation of the ready floor.
